London-based Irish-Puerto Rican artist Jæd has released her new single, ‘Very Fond’. It’s an uncompromising track that wears a huge range of influences on its sleeve, whether the fury of post-hardcore icons At The Drive-In or the unpredictable modern pop of Fiona Apple. The sonic world of the track is particularly unique, with jazzy drums supporting guitars that effortlessly drift between tense chugging, dissonant and jagged stabs and gentle countermelodies. She describes the track as “the hungry ghost, the desperation in constant consumption to the point that the more someone gives the less it is appreciated or even truly received.  And even people become things to be addicted to.” Jæd’s debut album, I Loved The Gauntlet And There Was No Other Way, drops on November 29th, 2024, via Delphi. -Dan Peeke
